2. Usage for Acrylic acid

High polymers are prepared through homopolymerization or copolymerization for use in coatings, adhesives, solid resins, molding compounds, etc.

Acrylic resins exist in solid, solution, and dispersion forms. They are widely used as lighting materials, decorative items, advertising signs, coatings, etc. Their relatively high cost limits broader application. When methyl groups are replaced with cyano groups via substitution before polymerization, they form instant adhesives commonly used for bonding glass, metals, plastics, and rubber.

Acrylic coatings primarily include thermoplastic acrylic coatings, thermosetting acrylic coatings, high-solids acrylic coatings, acrylic ester emulsion paints, and water-dilutable acrylic resin coatings.
