Chemical Properties A viscous, volatile essential oil ranging in colour from green to greenish-brown or reddish-brown. Exhibits a persistent woody aroma with camphor notes. Easily soluble in benzoic acid benzyl ester, diethyl phthalate, vegetable oils, and mineral oils; insoluble in glycerol.
Purpose: Designated as an approved food flavouring under China's GB2760-96 standard.
Primarily used in cola-type beverages and similar products. Application: Serves as a food flavouring, chiefly employed in cola-type beverages and other foodstuffs. Usage levels: - Chewing gum: 43-220 mg/kg - Baked goods: 10 mg/kg - Confectionery: 6.3 mg/kg - Frozen desserts: 1.1 mg/kg - Soft drinks: 0.88 mg/kg
